Medium bio (150 words)
Ti Mai Lan pairs sensory, poetic writing with the warm melodies of French pop.
Hypersensitive, idealistic and outspoken, she draws her inspiration from human
connection, turning her emotions into songs that are at once deep and luminous.
A classical guitarist from the age of six, she grew up on her family's records —
Céline Dion, Goldman, Mylène Farmer. Music became vital when she faced serious
illness as a young adult. She moved gradually toward a musical life: covers
posted on YouTube alongside a career as an engineer, then her own first
compositions, before making the leap at 32.
Meeting producer Thomas Monica led to the EP Sur le fil (November
2024), and then to her debut
album La clarté de la nuit, released 6 March 2026 — mixed by Ian Caple
and mastered by Jean-Pierre Chalbos.
Full biography
For Ti Mai Lan, music has always been a powerful outlet for expression,
connection and catharsis. Sad songs for the grey days, instrumental flights
for moments of quiet reflection, festive family sing-alongs at Christmas,
student parties powered by songs belted out at the top of her lungs: every
moment of life has found its soundtrack. From the age of six, classical
guitar let her channel her emotions and reinterpret — depending on her mood
— music that lifted her beyond the everyday. Ti Mai Lan grew up on her
family's record collection: Céline Dion, Goldman, Mylène Farmer.
Born in 1989 to a Vietnamese mother and a father from northern France, the
eldest child in a family of scientists, she inherited a dual culture that now
runs through her writing — giving rise, among other things, to « Origines »,
a bilingual French-Vietnamese song.
Music took on a vital role when, as a young adult, she faced serious illness.
It was that life force — that breath of hope passed on by the people close to
her, through music — that helped her get back on her feet. Little by little,
she moved closer to the artistic world: first with covers posted on YouTube
alongside her career as an engineer, then with her first compositions and
concerts, working with her brother and friends. But it was at 32, after a
depressive episode following a difficult return to work after maternity
leave, that she took the leap. Worn down by the system but saved once again
by music, she decided to gather and finish her lyrics. Meeting producer
Thomas Monica marked a new turning point: together, they wrote and recorded
the songs that would become her debut album.
On 29 November 2024, she released her debut EP, « Sur le fil », a bold,
nuanced project.
With « La clarté de la nuit », Ti Mai Lan puts forward her own vision of the
world: gentle but piercing poetry set to music that is at once melancholic
and danceable. The oxymoron becomes her signature. She brings together shadow
and light, yin and yang, hope and disillusion, love and heartbreak — the
paradoxes that make up our humanity, which she seeks to reveal through music.
Several tracks have been picked up by radio stations across France, Belgium,
Switzerland, Canada and the United States (iHeartRadio, France Bleu Gironde,
FGL, and others). Following the album's release, Ti Mai Lan spent two
consecutive months in the Radios Quotas top 35.
Introspection is her sword, elegance her echo of the world's beauty, and love
her lantern.
